Julie Freeman

Julie describes her integration into the Visions community as a homecoming and as an extension of a vision that she has held personally since her early adult years. A Registered Dietitian and a certified Diabetes Educator, Julie also has clinical training in eating disorders and functional medicine. Her extensive education in food and health includes a BS in Foods and Nutrition from Framingham State College, a Masters degree in Counseling and Human Development from Saint Mary’s University, and post-graduate clinical training at Boston’s Mind-Body Institute, Deaconess Medical Center.
Julie, who is passionate about sharing her knowledge with the public, describes Visions as a community where the mission and sum of the parts is greater than each individual. From her professional experience teaching kindergarten through college-level, to her personal joy of singing and playing guitar with her daughters at their church masses, Julie is a natural communicator and is as comfortable speaking to groups as she is with patients for one-on-one sessions. In addition to her teaching experience and work as a Registered Dietitian, Julie was also certified as a personal trainer and yoga instructor and has worked at health clubs and with athletes to combine exercise and diet in athletic training programs. An avid runner and cyclist, Julie channels her zest for life into her cooking. Using her nutritional expertise in her own kitchen, Julie frequently takes “grungy,” unwholesome recipes and transforms them into hearty, healthy meals.
